The association ‘Gilgal Gharal’ (ID 5804638-18) was founded by the association ‘Orot Shel Chesed’ and has been operating for 18 years in Netivot and the settlements around Gaza.

About 400 food baskets are distributed every week, including vegetables, fruits, dairy products and prepared food, with a basket of groceries and basic products added once a month. The portions are distributed to residents and families from all sectors, age groups and denominations.

Every holiday, expanded food baskets are distributed to about 500 families. The basket contains food products, poultry, eggs and more. On some holidays, shopping vouchers are distributed in local chains in order to allow families to buy what they need when the vouchers are limited and do not allow buying alcohol and cigarettes.

The association’s warehouses serve as a logistics center for the localities of the region – from Sderot through the regional councils to Ofakim and Rahat.
The association operates in cooperation with the national organizations “Letat” and “Collect Israel” and operates according to the code of ethics of these organizations and also complies with the standards of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Welfare.

Beyond that, the association engraves educational values on its banner and works voluntarily to accompany the families in order to provide tools for wise financial management of the families and conduct free workshops for healthy and proper nutrition. The association works for volunteering education among the youth in the city and several days a week dozens and hundreds of students and youths from Kindergarten to 12th grade volunteer in the association for a variety of tasks, most of them from the city and the region as well as “Israeli Journey” trainees and various groups from all over the country. Soldiers from various IDF units serving in the area also volunteer in the association, and the units are also “chopped” with packages of gifts and various treats.

Due to our definition of the association as an educational organization, we also work to provide equal opportunities in education and enable subsidies for diagnoses, private lessons and unique treatments for students with special needs.
